From Coal to Clean Energy: CBAM as a Driver of Montenegro’s Energy Transition

The “From Coal to Clean Energy: CBAM as a Driver of Montenegro’s Energy Transition” project commenced in February 2026.

The project’s main objective is to support Montenegro in preparing for the implementation of the Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) by analyzing its economic and energy-related impacts, with a particular focus on the Pljevlja region, in order to transform potential risks to the local economy and energy security into sustainable, long-term development opportunities.

The project is supported by the Beyond Fossil Fuels Network.
